PPI Work 2022

In 2022, Dr Agnes Ssali will be setting up a study to explore attitudes and experiences of health workers, pregnant/ breastfeeding women and their partners taking part in and consenting to maternal vaccine trials in Uganda.

This is a cross-sectional qualitative study embedded within the PREPARE maternal vaccine clinical trials conducted at Kawempe National Referral hospital in Kampala.

The overall aim is to identify how the prevention trials can be improved to recruit and retain participants in the clinical trials.

At least 20 pregnant women between the ages 18-49 will be interviewed individually and 20 will take part in Focus group discussions. We will interview 15 stakeholders who include health care providers at the hospitals, spouses to some of the women, community leaders and some ethics regulatory committee members for their views on maternal vaccines studies.
